
CUSTER, S.D. — The Spearfish Spartans Boys Golf Team turned in an impressive performance at the Black Hills Conference Meet, earning second place as a team and showing their depth across the scorecard. The effort was headlined by senior standout Bennett Kortan, who captured the individual championship with a round of 75.
Kortan’s steady play throughout the day set the tone for the Spartans and secured the top medalist spot in a competitive field.
Right behind him was Alec Dunwoody, who carded a 77 to place among the meet’s top finishers. Dean Lafayette added an 82, while Mason Southern and Eli Kortan both contributed rounds of 84. Cade Larscheid rounded out the team scoring with an 87, giving Spearfish consistent play from top to bottom.
The balanced scoring helped the Spartans hold their ground against strong competition and lock down the runner-up finish as a team. With the postseason looming, Spearfish showed they have the ability to compete with anyone in the Black Hills.
