RAPID CITY, S.D. – Peyton VanDeest added another victory to her impressive season Saturday, leading the Spearfish Spartans Cross Country teams at the Rapid City Invitational at Hart Ranch Resort.

VanDeest captured the girls individual championship with a time of 17 minutes, 31.2 seconds, leading Spearfish to a fourth-place team finish.

The Spartans placed six runners inside the top 116 individually.

Taisley Tetrault was the second Spearfish runner across the finish line, placing 25th in 20:17.6. Naomi Pfaff followed in 33rd at 20:51.1, while Auna Taglioli was right behind her in 34th at 20:51.9.

Sophia Hatleli finished 51st in 21:18.6, and Trinity Hourigan rounded out the listed Spearfish finishers in 116th with a time of 23:52.3.

VanDeest’s victory continued a strong stretch this fall. She previously won the Northern Hills Invitational and finished second at the Nike Heartland Preview.

VanDeest Leads Spearfish Boys

On the boys side, Rylan VanDeest led the Spartans with a third-place individual finish, crossing the line in 15:53.9.

Spearfish put three runners inside the top 16.

Carter Thompson finished 14th in 16:31.0, followed closely by Mason Gill, who placed 16th in 16:37.5.

Roman Jeffery took 32nd in 17:12.1, while Bastian Gonzales finished 40th in 17:25.7. Anthony Stevens placed 54th in 17:51.5.

Ian Cho crossed the line in 90th at 18:53.7, Tanner Gottlob finished 104th in 19:28.9, and Alex Albrecht placed 113th with a time of 19:51.6.

Between Peyton VanDeest’s individual victory, Rylan VanDeest’s third-place performance and the girls’ fourth-place team finish, Spearfish left Hart Ranch with several strong performances as the Spartans continue through the heart of the cross country season.
