
#1 Singles – Eliza Bailey (Senior): Faced a tough opponent, falling in straight sets (0–2). Won 7 total games but dropped 12.
#2 Singles – Allie Mondloch (Junior): Also went down 0–2 in sets, winning 9 games and losing 13.
#3 Singles – Lydia Schutz (Junior): Came out strong with a 2–0 set win, taking 12 games to 4.
#4 Singles – Elena McCabe (Senior): Another 2–0 set victory, edging out her opponent in a close game count, 13–10.
#5 Singles – Calisa Alderson (Sophomore): Dominated her match 2–0, giving up only 2 games while winning 12.
Spearfish Spartans Head Coach Alexis Codr said that the first match was really about seeing where the team was from a competitive standpoint.
“I was really just hoping that the girls would go out there and have fun,” Codr said. “It’s the first match gitteers. I really just wanted to see them playing their best. I just wanted them to play to their ability.”
