Gillette, WY — The Spearfish Spartans Volleyball team had a busy weekend at the Gillette Invitational, battling through six matches in two days and finishing with a strong 4-2 record. The Spartans showcased grit and improvement throughout the tournament, earning quality wins while facing tough competition. The Spartans total record stands at 7-4.
Day One – September 5
The Spartans opened the tournament with a setback against Douglas, falling 2-0. But Spearfish bounced back quickly, defeating Rapid City Central 2-0 and then taking down Scottsbluff 2-0 to close out the day on a high note.

Day Two – September 6
On Saturday, the Spartans continued to show their resilience. They dropped a close 2-1 battle against Laramie but rallied again with another sweep over Scottsbluff and capped off the weekend with a straight-set win against Rapid City Christian.

Building Momentum
With a 4-2 finish, the Spartans proved they can compete with strong programs from across the region. The balance of their offense, combined with steady defensive play, helped them notch four sweeps in their victories.
The Spartans will travel to Rapid City Christian on Tuesday, September 9 to play the Comets. Varsity starts at 6 p.m.
