SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Spearfish Spartans secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Sioux Falls Jefferson Cavaliers, improving their record to 3-1 in the season. The match, held at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex on Field 1, saw intense back-and-forth action, but the Spartans’ late-game resilience ultimately carried them to the win.

With just over 13 minutes remaining in the game, the Spartans broke through when senior Kate Scharf delivered a perfect assist to freshman Marley Mosset. Mosset wasted no time, finding the back of the net and giving the Spartans a crucial 1-0 lead.

However, the Cavaliers responded quickly in the second half. A fast-acting offensive play brought the game to a 1-1 tie, making the final moments even more thrilling as both teams vied for control.

The match was decided when Scharf once again stepped up for the Spartans. Scharf scored her own goal, putting the Spartans ahead 2-1 and securing the victory.

The Spartans will now look to build on their momentum as they prepare to face Sioux Falls Roosevelt at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex on Field 1 at 10 a.m. Their 3-1 record has them poised for more success as the season progresses.
