RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Spearfish Spartans Boys Golf Team wrapped up their 2025 season with a 14th-place finish at the Class AA State Golf Tournament held in Rapid City. The Spartans posted team scores of 333 and 337 for a two-day total of 670, closing out a season marked by growth, grit, and steady improvement across the lineup.
Leading the way for Spearfish was Dean Lafayette, who carded rounds of 79 and 85 for a combined 164. Bennett Kortan followed closely with rounds of 84 and 83, finishing at 167. Cade Larscheid turned in a strong second-day performance, improving six strokes from his opening round to finish at 170 (88-82). Alec Dunwoody shot an 82 and 93 for a 175 total, while Eli Kortan contributed rounds of 91 and 87 for 178. Mason Southern rounded out the Spartans’ effort with a 190 (93-97).
Competing against the best programs in South Dakota, the Spartans demonstrated composure and consistency on a challenging course. The team’s balanced scoring and strong first-day showing highlight a promising future for Spearfish golf as they look ahead to 2026.
