RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Spearfish Spartans boys golf team wrapped up Day One of the Class AA State Tournament at Meadowbrook Golf Course on Monday, finishing with a combined score of 333 (+45). Despite some challenges on the front nine, the Spartans remain focused and confident heading into Tuesday’s final round.
Senior Dean LaFayette led the way for Spearfish, carding a steady 79 (+7) highlighted by consistent play across both sides of the course. Alek Dunwoody followed closely behind with an 82 (+10), battling through tough pin placements on the back nine. Bennett Kortan added an 84 (+12), while Cade Larscheid rounded out the team’s scoring with an 88 (+16).
Though not included in the team score, Eli Kortan and Mason Southern continued to show improvement and determination, finishing with 91 (+19) and 93 (+21) respectively.
