SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Spearfish Spartans Boys Soccer Team (0-4-1) showed resilience on Saturday, August 30, battling Sioux Falls Roosevelt to a 2-2 draw at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex.
The Rough Riders controlled the pace for much of the match, keeping the Spartans on the defensive. However, Spearfish responded with a determined effort, led by Caleb Verhulst, who converted a pair of penalty kicks to score both goals for the Spartans. His ability to stay composed under pressure gave Spearfish a chance to stay even with Sioux Falls Roosevelt.
The Spartans will look to build on this draw when they face Pierre T.F. Riggs on Saturday, September 6, at the Black Hills Power Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.
